Our geotechnical appraisal reports will provide you with a detailed analysis across a range of issues. Typically, our reports include information on soil profiles (borehole and trial pit logs/dynamic probes/static cone penetration tests - ‘CPTs’), soil classification testing, shear strength and consolidation characteristics and moisture content versus depth profiles. An assessment of potential desiccation based on the volume change potential (shrinkage and swelling with change in water content) of fine-grained soils can be provided, which is often a mandatory requirement by NHBC on residential developments. Our recommendations will also include advice on the type and depth of building foundations, the type of cement to use in buried concrete foundations, as well as recommendations for excavations for foundations, services and surface water drainage including soakaway design.
